COLDCHELA 2018 - SOLDOUT!

Coldchela 2018 was a huge success, to say the least. With 20 homebrewers pouring, the festival was the largest gathering of Latino brewers - ANYWHERE! Not to mention, Coldchela was the first craft beer festival held in the city of East Los Angeles. The biggest success was having raised close to $7k to benefit the Gumball Foundation. Headquartered in an office at the Roybal Foundation building, Gumball mentors middle/high school students through college prep programs, giving them the tools and knowledge to start micro-ventures to help fund their college education. SCC is more than happy and proud to help make a small contribution to such a huge undertaking like mentoring youth.
This year's "Judged Competition" featured a cast of homebrew/craft beer celebrities who included: Sarah Bennett (journalist/college professor), Teo Hunter (Dope & Dank), Andy Carter (Pres of CA Homebrewers Assoc), Robert Flores (OC Weekly beer critic), Eric Santos (blender at Concrete Jungle brewery) and Abel Salas (editor of Brooklyn & Boyle). The judges selected Brewjeria as the winners of the coveted SCC trophy for their Belgian style tripel brewed with muscat grapes.
This year's "People's Choice" competition was a two way tie between Starwood Brewing (Imperial Porter) and Los Barbones Cerveceria ("Haze of our lives"- hazy IPA). All winners have a whole year to brag, show off their trophy and comeback to defend their title at Coldchela 2019!
SCC would like to thank all the brewers who participated, the food vendors, all the sponsors who donated items/merch for raffle giveaways and EVERYONE who purchased a ticket for a great cause. An extra special THANK YOU to our gracious host, the Roybal Foundation and a HUGE THANK YOU to Ezequiel "Zeke" Olvera, his staff and the entire Gumball Foundation for collaborating with us. CHEERS!
